How the house came to be

People have built on this site since the 13th century. Around 1225 a moated castle was built here on the Leine, which later became the administrative seat of the Amt Ricklingen district. The heart of the estate is an 18th-century baroque building on older foundations. The family lives in the yellow main house; guests stay in the half-timbered building on the courtyard and in the house by the pond. The first apartments were meant for guests staying for weeks and months: managers, project teams, people between two homes. That is why every unit still has its own kitchen today. Over the years, guests for shorter stays joined them, and the house opened up to them without losing its character.

Fourteen units, no two alike

Eleven apartments and suites of between 25 and 61 square metres, and three large suites of 126 to 250 square metres in the house by the pond. Each is named after a bird, and each is furnished differently: its own wallpaper, its own colours, its own furniture. The interiors have a point of view; some guests call them opulent, others playful. Take your time with the photos before you choose: every picture shows the rooms, furniture and fittings as they are. We have adjusted light, colour and decoration and removed small distractions such as cables or signs.

Your hosts

Irina Fuhrmann runs the house. Whenever it can be arranged, she welcomes guests herself, shows them around and lays the table in the morning. At her side is Wolfgang Fuhrmann, co-owner of the house. The family's dogs and cats also live on the estate.

What guests describe most often in their reviews is not the floor space but the small things: a jar of honey on the dining table, a tour of the house on arrival, help with the key safe late in the evening. One phrase keeps coming up, from guests who have never met: “Liebe zum Detail”, love of detail.

On Google, 535 guests rate the house at an average of 4.9 out of 5 stars; on Booking.com, 898 guests give it 9.6 out of 10 (as of September 2026, counted across all years). On Booking.com, only guests who have booked and stayed through the platform can leave a review. We do not check the authenticity of Google reviews ourselves.

What a day here looks like

In the morning, the long table in the breakfast room, from 7.30 to 10 am. Eggs from our own hens, honey from our own bees, freshly baked bread, pressed juices, fruit from the garden. If you prefer to keep to yourselves, take one of the separate tables or have a tray brought to your apartment. Special requests such as lactose-free milk, gluten-free bread or a vegan selection can be arranged on arrival.

During the day, the park, the sauna, the natural pond, the tennis court. Or Hanover, twenty minutes away.

In the evening, the lounge with its fireplace and library, and the honesty bar, settled via a list. Coffee and tea are available around the clock, cake during the day. From 9 pm the house is quiet.

What the house deliberately does differently

• No restaurant. A half-empty dining room would cost exactly the peace that guests come here for. Instead: breakfast in every rate, a kitchen in every unit and good places to eat nearby: Food and drink.
• No desk to queue at. You receive the code for the key safe in advance. Check-in from 3 pm, late in the evening too: Arrival.
• A house for adults. Bookings can be made by guests aged 18 and over; accompanying guests are welcome from the age of 12. Pets are not allowed.
• No air conditioning. Beneath the roof it can get warm in high summer. We are happy to put a fan in your apartment.
